A huge thankyou for making Wings available to us over Xmas. We had an amazing stay and will be back possibly with family later in the year. We are straight back into the hurly burly of work and cannot believe the transition in such a short time!!!
The day cabin was perfect and we saw all kinds of wildlife.
If you ever need a guest endorsement just ask, many thanks again for the holiday of a lifetime.

Wings Retreat is the best holiday house we have ever stayed at – and we have stayed in many!!  The inside is one of the most stylish interiors you could hope for with a perfect layout and all mod cons provided.  Downstairs would have been perfect enough but when you go upstairs you enter a stylish apartment that would do justice to many city centre penthouse arrangements.  The kitchen and utensils provided are brilliant and all extras have been thought of. It was as clean as a new property when we entered and was very relaxing to sit and enjoy time in.  However the outside puts the inside into insignificance almost!!  How can you describe the space, wildlife, tracks and views available on the doorstep and all belonging to the property in isolation? We walked for days on the property and could easily never have left the gates had it not been for the rich Barossa wines available to purchase and bring back for the perfect Barbecue area.  It is hard to describe Wings really but you would never regret a stay there.
We hope to be back many times.

Our weekend at Wings Retreat was a truly magical experience!! From the moment we set foot on the property all our city stress melted away, it was too easy to unwind here! 🙂
It’s also an animal lover’s and bird watcher’s dream – I got very excited each time I peered into the backyard to see grazing caramel rabbits, swarms of monarch butterflies and a plethora of pint sized bright blue and red birds frisking in the birdbath.
A huge highlight was exploring the 170 acres of the retreat (equipped with gumboots, binoculars and outdoor gear supplied). We spotted kangaroos, deer and rabbits, and loved the canvas chairs set up along the various trails so we could listen to the beautiful sound of silence and look out for wildlife.
The homestead was grand and beautiful, we felt like we were a million miles away from civilisation in our own little world. Everything we needed was right there too – a fully equipped kitchen, wood for a gorgeous logfire, a BBQ, range of books and magazines, cosy blankets and a cute outdoor setting where we enjoyed our brunch amongst nature. We bought our own supplies of food but there are restaurants and a supermarket only 10-15 mins drive away.
We have told all of our friends about our amazing find of Wings and will def be returning with a group one day soon. We also plan to take family there when they visit from NZ and its a perfect place to visit year round.
I have travelled a lot of the world and Wings has a special place in my heart already – it will be a favourite return destination for years to come, guaranteed stress relief and tranquility! The best part is it’s just a quick trip (around 1 hour from Adelaide) so very easy to get to. 🙂

Wings sits in a brilliant location in the lesser-known Eden Valley, providing its own garden of Eden.
Living up to its name, the birdlife is prolific and exotic.
The walks around the property are well marked and add some well-needed exercise to the indulgences, with magnificent views (the tell-tale folding chairs show you where to stop and take them in).
The top floor with its master bedroom and open-plan study/retreat area offers some perfect morning tea/coffee sun-traps in its attic windows: ideal for reading a book whilst superb blue wrens flit along the roof in front of you.
The welcomed lack of a TV made us relax and play Scrabble while quaffing the local wines (we stopped at Suffield to discover distinctive, well-aged reds and whites on tasting on our way home and regretted not going earlier).
If you love shopping, crowds, noise, TV and eating out at a different restaurant every night, go somewhere else.
But if you love peace, tranquillity, the bush and getting back to what life’s really all about, we couldn’t think of a better place to regain
your sanity.

Hi Everyone – I said I would let you know if our few days in the “bush retreat” was what we had hoped for. Well, it was – simply excellent!
Just what we needed – such tranquillity and isolation but close to Adelaide, with all the comforts of home – even chairs placed randomly around the 170 acre property so you can survey the scene in comfort on your walks, sit still to enjoy the bird life, and wait for the kangaroos (lots of) to hop by. Allen was out and about all the time, soaking up the atmosphere, despite the inclement weather – good for the soul. We only left the property once to enjoy a delightful meal at Bucks Bistro in nearby Springton.
The owner is extremely helpful and the house is thoughtfully and comfortably equipped. Highlights (for me) were books to read, games to play, and an impossibly mountainous duvet on the bed to cuddle into. Such luxurious and peaceful relaxation.
We would thoroughly recommend this haven for a long weekend break-away (or longer, if you can, as it is close to all the Barossa attractions). It has three bedrooms, so is very versatile, too.

Best wishes

We had a fabulous night at Wings.
The ambience of the house and the way that it has been decorated makes it a very comfortable and relaxing house to be in. The top floor is particularly sensational with the layout being one that allows for great relaxation. The kitchen is also very well equipped.
It’s a fantastic place that you have created at Wings. Whilst you have set this up for bird watching, the property will most definitely suit non-bird watchers. The trails allow some spectacular vistas to be viewed along the way.
It is a very peaceful place to be and easy to get to.
We will most definitely make use of Wings again.

Best wishes

Our family of 4 had a fantastic long weekend at Wings, so much so that we extended our stay. We have stayed at many holiday properties, and this was one of the best. From the moment we arrived, we felt very relaxed in such a peaceful setting, the house was very clean and more importantly, everything worked. The beds and linen were divine!! We appreciated all the extra touches available to us, such as magazines, books, throw rugs, games etc. The property is just gorgeous, and we spent many hours exploring the well marked tracks and spotting the wildlife and birds. The location is great too, easy drive from Adelaide and close to wineries, restaurants and national parks. We will definitely be returning.

We have stayed twice: once in September when the property was spectacularly beautiful, with a myriad of flowering natives, especially wattles and banksias. Birds were everywhere, feeding on the flowers and the insects they attracted. Our long walks were real joys. The second time was in January, when we used Wings as a base for exploring the Barossa, Adelaide, and watching the Tour Down Under bicycle race. Just perfect.

I wish I was there now.
